Gimli from MKUK contacted me regarding the feasibility of one of the biggest keyboards custom keyboards ever made. The idea was to reproduce the famous Space Cadet in a more modern design. 7bit had already created a huge set of keycaps which could not fit on any preexisting keyboard. A short month later the first working Hyper 7 was born, with a width of approximately half a meter.
Jae is the first person in the world to hold a complete fully functioning keyboard of such dimensions and was kind enough to provide the picture seen above. The PCB is split into two parts which are connected using a ribbon cable in order to accommodate for the tilted layout. Using the power of QMK more than 8000 unique character can be typed.
